The first of more than a dozen vision trips left yesterday!
Every October, a group of business executives heads over to East Asia for one week. They give lectures in classrooms in some of the top universities in East Asia, sharing about topics like:
Topics like leadership, ethics and values really draw students in, and provide a platform for the execs to have spiritual conversations with students in small group discussions after the lectures, or at lunch later that week. I love seeing college students step out in faith to share their story with others -- but it's also motivating to hear about these executives (shown above in a pre-trip training) taking time out of their schedules to connect with East Asian college students and make an eternal impact. Some of these executives have been on this same trip multiple times and have developed long-lasting friendships with students they met years ago. Can't wait to share more with you about how God moved through this group when they return home. I know they would appreciate prayers for safety, health, and for God to move in mighty ways in the lives of the college students they will meet with. And yes... I said more than a dozen in that first sentence. At the moment I have 18 vision trips on the list for this school year. 18. It's likely that some will not be sent due to low interest or changing plans, but it is also likely that we will have 12-15 teams sent out this year. On a 7-10 day vision trip, students get a small taste of what it's like to live and minister overseas. They get to walk the streets of Paris and imagine themselves sitting at a cafe with an agnostic and a Catholic, having a conversation about Biblical inerrancy. They experience first hand the passion of an East Asian believer who placed their faith in Christ two weeks ago, and immediately started sharing Jesus with their friends. I get goosebumps as I think about college students taking a terrifyingly exciting step to board a plane for a country and culture they've never experienced...only to return to that same place for a year or five or twenty. What if they didn't board the plane? What if they ignored that still small voice in their heart? And for those that may never set foot outside the country again, I am even more excited to see how God will use their experience abroad on their journey of becoming a life-long Christ-centered laborer, wherever and however God leads them. God never wastes a step of faith.
