History
Cru began as Campus Crusade for Christ on the campus of UCLA in 1951. The vision was simple. Win young adults to Christ and build them up in their faith, while they are in their formative college years. Doing so would transform our world, as these same students were mobilized and sent out to win others to Christ. What began on one campus has now transformed into the largest missionary sending organization in the world. More than 70 years later, the mission remains the same: win students to Christ, build them up in their faith, and send them out to the world. We desire to see lost high school and college students and faculty come to Christ and be transformed into lifelong, Christ-centered multiplying disciples. With a ministry presence on more than 1,000 colleges in the US and 190 countries around the world, we are working to fulfill the Great Commission given in Matthew 28: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” |
My story
I've seen God use Cru in significant ways in the lives of students - and the first life I saw Him change was mine! While in college at the University of South Dakota, God used numerous students and staff involved in Cru to impact my life. God had opened my eyes to see that I was a broken person, in need of his grace. Sitting in my freshman dorm, I gave my life to Christ & began a relationship with God. I grew immensely in my faith as I got involved in a local church, started to read the Bible and participate in conferences and mission trips with Cru. As graduation neared, I sensed God leading me to join the staff of Cru to serve in full-time ministry. I graduating from USD in 2008, I joined staff with Cru in 2009 and am currently serving as the Director of Talent Management for the campus ministry. This role involves stewarding 3,500+ Cru missionaries along their career path. We invite them into roles that develop them as leaders and also fit their skills and giftings, while also helping them get to our locations of greatest need. Our missionaries are our most important resource in reaching students and faculty with the gospel, and I'm honored to help them grow and develop in order to reach more people. |
